Happy Friday! Did you enter our giveaway on Wednesday for a Matthew Mead Bundle? If you tweet or use facebook, we’d love for you to share our blog.
If you knit, you MUST come to THE CREATIVE CONNECTION! Kristin Nicholas is teaching for us on our VOGUEknitting Day. Yes, we have a whole set of classes dedicated to just the fiber arts! A dream come true.
Kristin is an author, a knitwear designer and decorative artist. You can also see her on PBS. Her designs are full of life and color! In one class she’ll be teaching on our TCC HANDMADE track is Embroidered Embellishments for Knits, she will teach you how to add colorful embellishments to your handknits.
She claims you don’t need any special powers to learn and you’ll leave class knowing many new stitches to start your own embroidered embellishments. In The Edge Of Color class, it’s all about edges and all the amazing things you can make with a little imagination and the right techniques. Sounds intriguing doesn’t it?
Kristin has a great site that also includes her blog. But I’m warning you, once you see everything she does, you’ll HAVE to sign up for her classes.

I bet you didn’t think we’d have you playing with toys for one of our TCC HANDMADE classes.
Many times while reading bedtime stories to my son, I would think to myself that I too could write a children’s story book. My imagination would go into overdrive and I was soon making up stories to tell my son. I should have written them down. Had I known and received advice from author and illustrator Marilyn Scott Waters, who knows……maybe I’d be an author today. In Marilyn’s class, Children’s Books 101-Becoming a Published Author she will teach you how to tread water in today’s book publishing world. Learn from a pro. There are way more options than I ever imagined.
What you may not know about Marilyn, is her popular website The ToyMaker. I could spend hours on this site. She has one page dedicated to just Paper Toys you make yourself with her free patterns. I can tell my son will love this site. Marilyn will share a few of her techniques on how to make toys from paper in Paper Fun with the Toymaker. Guaranteed to be fun.
The class list for TCC is unbelievable! I hope you’re coming!
If you tweet and you tweet about us, we’d love for you to use the hashtag #TCCE11
Yay, the Toymaker will be there! My kids and I have so enjoyed both making and playing with her paper toys!
This event looks like so much fun! I want to take all 0f the knitting classes. And who doesn’t love color?? I never understand clients who are so afraid of color…like it’s the Ebola virus or something! My best friend and I used to love to cut up magazines and paste logos and other things we collected in our own little homemade books. It was so much fun!
Can not wait to enjoy all the wonderful classes and meet everyone counting down the days!!

The Creative Connection event is having a contest to win two tickets plus hotel to the event–I am posting this because it is part of my entry, I really want to go AND I know that other creative-types who have “liked” my page would love to go connect with like minds at this event–so you should enter too!
Oh My Gosh, I am excited just to have a chance to win this! I think I would ask a certain friend who doesn’t know just how amazing she is to go along with me…how awesome to share this creative event with someone!
I would love to win these two tickets to the crafting conferene. You see, I used to be a crafted of dolls, santas, and all things good, as well as a sewist! Then I put on a mask and became a quilter, the real me hidden in disguise. And, I would bring a great friend…the very person who stripped me of my quilters only mask. I met Karen on vacation one year and it became one of those instant ‘Hello, Kindred soul’ things. Our bubbles are much the same, tall, crafty, and silent. Plus how better to kick off birthday week then spending time with all of you, as well as my friend 1900 miles from me
I would love to hear her speak on authoring and crafting. I’ve always wanted to write books for children, and I would love to attend this fab event because I feel like the daily grind of life is wearing me out and stealing my creativity. I would take my friend Michelle because she doesn’t believe in her own ability to be creative, and I think she could learn to explore and try to make things that would otherwise intimidate her. We could both really use some ‘me’ time away from our daily lives as busy moms just doing something fun we couldn’t otherwise afford to do.
I’m posting this for the giveaway for the two tickets. I would love to win these because I’m a new small business owner who creates cupcake toppers, birthday banners, invitations, the full party supply.. Any inspiration is crucial to my business and I can only imagine the kind of ideas or lessons I can receive through these workshops. I would take my mom with me. She’s been instrumental in helping me start my business, by lending supplies & a creative eye. I get my creativity from her & I know she would be very grateful if I invited her.
I also shared this link on FB for the giveaway chances.
I would love to win the tickets to share with my sister. We have both been searching for a way to find ourselves in the creative world. Putting into practice talents we already have and hoping to make a change in our career. The goal to spend our future days learning and loving the things we like to do best.
I would love to win the opportunity to attend , ” BlogHer Handmade and The Creative Connection Event “.
Art and Creativity have been my passion and life saver for as long as I can remember however , just recently I have taken the plunge and launched into a small business . I know that I would benefit so much from everything offered at the events . I would love to take my friend Mel as I know it would feed her artistic soul as much as mine.
Thankyou.
